Data You Give Us Directly
Search Queries
A name or location entered in a search box is sent directly to the outside provider that operates that tool. The provider handles the query and supplies its results. We do not retain or log those search terms on our systems.
Messages and Contact Submissions
We retain an email or contact message as needed to answer it. The message remains within our organization unless disclosure is required by law.
Data We Gather Automatically
Our servers receive basic technical information when a visitor loads a page:
- Page-view dates and times
- Pages opened and time spent on them
- Device type and operating system
- Browser type and version
- Referring website, when available
- Internet Protocol address
Cookies and Analytics
Cookies are small files placed on a device. We and our analytics providers use them to understand aggregate traffic, such as popular pages and points where visits end. A browser can block cookies, although doing so may change how some site functions behave.
What We Do With This Data
- Diagnosing faults and other technical problems
- Operating the website and improving load performance
- Measuring which content is useful or needs revision
- Routing a search request to the selected partner
- Displaying advertising that may reflect visitor interests
No Criminal-Record Data on File
We do not keep, assemble, or sell a database of personal criminal records. Waushara County guidance directs readers to the sheriff, Wisconsin Circuit Court, the Wisconsin DOJ Crime Information Bureau, and the Wisconsin Sex Offender Registry. We are not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act. Visitor information is not compiled into consumer reports or third-party criminal profiles.
Third-Party Search Partners
Outside companies operate the search boxes. Their own privacy policies govern information entered there, including how long it is kept and when it may be shared. We do not control those practices. Review the provider's policy before submitting a query.
Links to Other Websites
Links may lead to Waushara County offices, Wisconsin court and agency portals, legal aid resources, or outside search services. Once a visitor follows a link, the destination's privacy policy applies. Read it before providing personal information.
Advertising companies may also track activity across websites to select ads. That processing occurs through their systems.
Who Might See Your Data
We do not sell personal information. Data may be disclosed to:
- Analytics providers measuring traffic and performance
- Search providers processing a query you choose to run
- Advertising networks serving content on the website
- Government or law-enforcement bodies acting under a valid legal order
How We Protect Your Data
We use standard safeguards for collected data. No internet-connected system is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee that unauthorized access or a breach will never occur.
Users Under 18
The site is intended for adults, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from a person under 18. If we learn that a minor supplied such data, we will delete it.
Your Data Rights
Your location and applicable law may provide added privacy or consumer rights. Wisconsin Public Records Law, Wis. Stat. §§ 19.31-19.39, governs records held by public authorities, while criminal-history dissemination by Wisconsin DOJ is addressed in Wis. Stat. § 165.82. Those public-record laws do not make this private site a government custodian. For data we control, you may:
- Request deletion of your data
- Ask what information we hold about you
- Seek correction of inaccurate information
- Opt out of some forms of processing
Updates to This Policy
We may revise this policy. A changed version will appear here with an updated effective date, so review this page periodically for current practices.
